Separate subdivision “Sakhalin Western Seaport” is a city forming company of Kholmsk district. It appeared in 2002 instead of fully demolished Marine Fish Port and very soon SWSP became the most modern port on Sakhalin and the only port on the Far East specialized to support oil and gas projects.
During the last years, the port was entirely rebuilt. New equipment was installed here and new buildings were built. Upgrade of SWSP territory is still ongoing.
Recently, very significant event happened in the port. On April 15th new modern facilities to support “Sakhalin-2” project were commissioned. Facilities are utilized for storage, processing and transshipment of bulk materials to supply vessels.
The following people took part in this significant event: Yakovlev Sergey Leonidovich – first deputy general director of JV LLC «Sakhalin-Shelf-Service» , Spitsyn Maxim Yurievich – manager of Schlumberger Kholmsk Branch, Steinberg Yuriy Semenovich – manager of “Sakhalin Energy” onshore base, Novoselov Sergey Vladimirovich – chief engineer of JSC “Vladmorstroy” as well as employees of SWSP, “Schlumberger” and other service companies.
- Today is a very significant event in the entire history of our company, - Yakovlev S.L. said - We commission new modern facility. We hand over new bulk system to “Schlumberger” company, which will be utilized to support “Sakhalin-2” project. I am happy that by building this facility we established comfortable and safe work environment for our personnel, increased labor efficiency and improved the quality of technological processes. This is a great achievement for us. I hope, that our customer- “Sakhalin Energy Investment Company”- will also be satisfied.
It shall be noted that the total period of facility construction including designing is one year. Construction works were done by JSC “Vladmorstroy”. There was old, cold building there, used for bulk materials. New facility was built considering the height, required for 5tn overhead crane operation. Also, there is an administrative building there.
Undoubtedly, the facility impresses with its size, modern equipment and new technologies. The participants of ceremony could check it after they cut symbolic red ribbon and looked around. The building is equipped with modern Russian equipment and it is very good for severe Sakhalin climate. The building is heated, has good ventilation system and dust exhaust system, as well as all conveniences for personnel.
Ten tanks, or so called “silos” for bulk materials are installed in “arctic corridor”. From now on snow and rain will not interfere in all year round functioning. Before that, silos system was installed in open air.
Facility will start functioning on April 18th, 2016.
